We are seeing God do amazing things as we serve together.
Musa, Taara, and their three children live in a hotel room wondering when they will ever feel normal again. Their abrupt departure from everything they knew in Afghanistan 6 months ago has left them in a disorienting limbo of not living anywhere.
They long to cook their own foods, sleep in a bed that is “theirs,” and feel a sense of security. Musa wants to get back to work providing for his family. He sees the fear in Taara’s eyes and the tears as his kids long to play with their friends – friends that they may never see again.
Musa and Taara know that any day they may be told to pack their few possessions and go somewhere else. They feel confused, grief-stricken, scared, unwelcome, and that no one cares about them.
With support from Water for Ishmael, teams from local churches are hunting for housing and basic furniture. They are making plans to help Afghans get food, clothing, and healthcare. They are arranging rides to English classes. They are checking out possible jobs.
Little do they know that your gifts are mobilizing churches right now to welcome families like Musa and Taara’s.
In partnership with Samaritan’s Purse, churches are following Jesus in seeing and welcoming the stranger. You, as part of Water for Ishmael, are walking with these teams as they prepare to communicate to Afghan families that God sees and God cares.
