Fall is here and so are our international friends!

by | Oct 2, 2013 | Uncategorized

What an amazing turn out! At the “The Gathering” we had close to 150 people come to meet their new partner and friend. 75 international students are currently partnered with their American friend to meet once a week to better their English and to learn more about the United States.  The kinds of places that Conversation Partners will take you is incredible! For the American partner, it can mean traveling to Niagra Falls on a whim with their Saudi Arabian partner over fall break. For the international student, it can mean spending Christmas break with their American friend’s family. These are just past examples of amazing experiences that both the international and American can have. We are extremely excited to hear about the new stories and friendships that will happen this fall!

For our American Conversation Partners, here are some suggested activities you can do with your international partner:

  • Carve Pumpkins
  • Go to a corn maze
  • Walk around a local Toledo Metro-park (Toledo Botanical Garden is beautiful in the fall!)
  • Go to an apple orchard and pick apples
  • Make delicious apple pie with your freshly picked apples
  • Go to a local coffee shop and enjoy some hot cocoa or hot apple cider
  • Pass out candy together on trick-or-treat night
  • Have an authentic thanksgiving dinner! (be mindful of dietary restrictions)

Have fun this fall and enjoy your new friendships!
